Jeff Banfield, a graduate of North Carolina State University’s Animal Science program, has been in the cattle business for over 30 years. JK Red Angus was started in 2001 with the purchase of a bred cow at the Virginia Beef Expo in Harrisonburg, VA. The docility, mothering ability, and the ease of the fleshing ability of Red Angus led to Jeff’s decision to commit to the breed. In order to feed our growing population, Jeff has adopted the philosophy that we need to produce better beef more quickly.
Over the years, JK Red Angus has found success marketing its females and bulls through private treaty and online sales. We also utilize our steers to provide high-quality freezer beef to help feed our community. Our area welcomes locally raised, quality beef while our cattle customers appreciate the genetic selection and phenotypical choices we have made.
